Engineer at Outsight

Olivier Garcia Favrot has a diverse work experience in the field of engineering, specializing in research and development. Olivier started their career in 2003 as an R&D engineer at Thales, where they worked until 2006. In 2003, they also co-founded Wifibot and served as an R&D engineer until 2008. From 2008 to 2009, they worked as an R&D engineer at Inria.

In 2009, Olivier began working as a freelance robotic expert, conducting research and development projects until 2014. During this time, they also joined NAVYA formerly INDUCT as an R&D engineer from 2009 to 2014.

In 2011, they joined Balyo as an R&D engineer, where they focused on developing localization algorithms for automated truck lifts, perception algorithms for automated lateral truck loading, and trajectory control and obstacle avoidance algorithms for automated industrial cleaning machines. Olivier worked at Balyo until 2013.

From 2012 to 2015, Olivier worked as an R&D engineer at VIAMETRIS. Then, in 2015, Olivier co-founded DIBOTICS and served as an R&D engineer and co-founder until 2019.

Most recently, Olivier joined Outsight in 2019 as an engineer, where they currently work.

Olivier Garcia Favrot obtained a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya between 1995 and 2001. Olivier then pursued further education at Pierre and Marie Curie University from 2001 to 2002, where they obtained a Master's degree (DEA) in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering. In 2000-2001, Olivier also took part in an ERASMUS exchange program at Luleå University of Technology, although the specific field of study during this period is not specified.

Outsight develops a revolutionary kind of sensor, a 3D Semantic Camera that brings Full Situation Awareness to Smart Machines. This sensor combines software and hardware, to create sensor innovations such as remote material identification with comprehensive real-time 3D data processing. This technology provides an unprecedented and cost efficientability for systems to perceive, understand and ultimately interact with their surroundings in real time.Outsight believes in making a smarter and safer world by empowering cars, drones and robots with the superhuman capabilities provided by their 3D Semantic Camera. Their international team of scientists and engineers operates out of Paris, Helsinki and San Francisco. In July 2019, the company entered a new phase with its founders joining Cédric Hutchings (co-founder of Withings) and Scott Buchter (co-founder of Lasersec) to create a new entity, Outsight, based in Paris, San Francisco and Helsinki. This new entity aims to combine the software assets of Dibotics with a new and revolutionary 3D sensor technology.
