Alison J. Germak serves as deputy head of the Office of Development Credit at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). The Office of Development Credit is responsible for underwriting financing for a wide variety of investment projects in developing and emerging market countries with an emphasis on impact sectors including agribusiness, health, water and sanitation, housing, supply chains, and financial inclusion.
Prior to her current management position, Ms. Germak spent 15 years in business development roles for DFC and its predecessor organization, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). In addition to cultivating successful project financings across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, Ms. Germak was responsible for leading several agency-wide initiatives in support of the U.S. small business and diaspora communities that OPIC served. She additionally oversaw the agency’s Innovative Financial Intermediaries Program, mobilizing an estimated $1 billion in capital for impact finance and blended capital vehicles in developing and frontier markets.
Ms. Germak holds a M.A. in International Commerce and Policy with an emphasis in Global Business from George Mason University’s Schar School of Policy and Government and graduated Summa Cum Laude and with University Honors from Susquehanna University with a B.A. in Political Science.
