Tawakkol Karman is a prominent activist and founder of the Tawakkol Karman Foundation, established in December 2016, focusing on development and peace-building through community empowerment, education, and human rights advocacy. In addition, Karman serves as a board member for the Oversight Board and the Nobel Women's Initiative, enhancing the visibility of women in peace and justice efforts globally. As founder of the Peaceful Revolution Youth Council, Karman played a crucial role in the 2011 Yemeni peaceful revolution. Karman also founded Women Journalists Without Chains, an organization dedicated to promoting civil rights and freedom of expression. Karman's educational credentials include a Master's degree in Security Studies from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, honorary doctorates in Law from Universidad César Vallejo and the University of Alberta, as well as a fellowship at Harvard University.
