David de Meij

Senior (Geospatial) Data Engineer | Data Scientist at Overstory

David de Meij has a diverse work experience background. David started their career as a Hospitality Employee at Mise en Place in 2012, working in various roles such as cook and bartender. In 2013, they joined D.R.V. Euros as a Race Rower and later became a member of the Regatta Committee, organizing national rowing regattas.

David then worked as a Student Assistant at the University of Twente in 2013, assisting in Industrial Engineering and Management. David continued their involvement with the university, serving as a Student Assistant in the Artificial Intelligence Module from 2015 to 2017.

In 2014, David took on the role of Treasurer at Kick-In, where they organized the introduction period for new students and handled communication and volunteer recruitment.

David also gained financial management experience as the Financial Director of the Dutch Student Investment Fund from 2016 to 2017. In this role, they led a European student-run Venture Capital fund, made investment decisions, and organized successful start-up events.

David founded Discover VR in 2017 and served as its Founder until 2018. During this time, they established the company and its vision.

Currently, David is a Senior (Geospatial) Data Engineer and Data Scientist at Overstory, where they utilize their expertise in geospatial data and data science.

David de Meij completed their education at the University of Twente. David earned a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from 2011 to 2015. David then proceeded to pursue a Master's Degree in Interaction Technology from 2015 to 2018. In addition to their academic achievements, David also obtained several certifications during their education. David won the Global AI Hackathon - Microsoft Challenge in June 2017 and was selected as one of the biggest Dutch digital talents under 25, known as T500, in May 2017. David also attended the Startify Academy of IT-driven Social Entrepreneurship in August 2016. Furthermore, they completed the Basisopleiding BHV, a basic first aid and emergency response training, from an institution called Human Capital Care.
