Greg Givens

EVP & COO at Ovintiv

Greg Givens was named chief operating officer in September 2019. He is accountable for delivering operational excellence across Ovintiv’s North American assets including leveraging the Company’s top-tier plays, optimizing base production to reduce costs, increasing netbacks and enhancing profitability.

Previously, Givens was vice president and general manager for Ovintiv’s Texas operations where he was instrumental in the Company’s success in both the Permian Basin and the Eagle Ford. He has more than two decades of leadership and operating experience in the oil and gas industry—working in all

facets of the business including drilling and completions, reservoir engineering, development, operations and business development.

Givens was a founding officer of EP Energy, where as vice president of the Eagle Ford division, he led the development of a 90,000 net acre asset with an annual capital budget of $1.2 billion. He began his career at Sonat Exploration which later merged with El Paso Production Company.

Givens recently served as a board member on the Permian Basin Petroleum Association and concluded a three-year term on the board of the Texas Oil & Gas Association.

Givens is a petroleum engineering graduate from Texas A&M University and has a masters in business administration from Rice University.
