Matthew MacFadyen

Matthew MacFadyen has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering and automation. Matthew is currently working as a Software Engineer at Owl Cyber Defense since 2023. In this role, they develop and maintains CI pipelines for cyber security solutions, creates automated tests using Python and pytest, and sets up VMs on VMware's vSphere tool.

Prior to that, Matthew worked at IBM from 2020 to 2021 as an Automation Engineer. Here, they automated functional tests for IBM mainframes using Python, Java, Selenium, and Robot framework, effectively reducing testing time.

Before joining IBM, Matthew was a Junior Software Engineer at AlphaPoint from 2019 to 2020. Matthew developed and tested new APIs in C# for AlphaPoint's cryptocurrency exchange application and provided development assistance to customer support for production issues. Matthew also briefly worked as a Graduate Trainee at AlphaPoint.

Matthew's earlier experience includes working as a Human Resources Information System Analyst at Town Sports International from 2018 to 2019.

Matthew MacFadyen completed their education at Siena College, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from 2014 to 2018. Prior to that, they attended Hendrick Hudson High School and obtained a High School Diploma from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, Matthew obtained various certifications, including "Learning Threat Modeling for Security Professionals" and "Threat Modeling: Denial of Service and Elevation of Privilege" from LinkedIn in March 2023. Matthew also completed certifications such as "Ansible Essential Training" and "Learning Ansible" from LinkedIn in October 2022. Other certifications include "Introduction to VMware" from LinkedIn in June 2022, "Developing Secure Software" from LinkedIn in May 2022, and "Networking Foundations: Networking Basics" from LinkedIn in May 2022. In October 2020, Matthew completed certifications such as "Introduction to IBM z/OS" from IBM and "Master the Mainframe 2020 - Level 2" from IBM. Further, they completed "The Complete 2020 Web Development Bootcamp" certification from Udemy in June 2020 and "Complete Python Bootcamp: Go from zero to hero in Python 3" from Udemy in April 2020.
