Carolien Samson

Head of Sustainable Banking at Oxbury Bank

Carolien Samson has a wealth of work experience in the banking and finance industry. Carolien began their career in 1998 as a Principal Planner for the Department of Land Affairs, followed by a role as a Specialist in Product Development and Implementation for the Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa in 2000. Carolien then moved to the Land and Agricultural Development Bank in the same role, and was promoted to Manager of Product Development - AgriBusiness in 2004. During their time at Absa, they also served as a Technical Campaign Manager and Consultant for Commodity Finance. In 2016, they became the General Manager of Corporate Strategy and Innovation at the Land Bank. In 2020, they were appointed as Head of Strategy and Sustainability at Access Bank South Africa, and in 2022 they were promoted to Head of Sustainable Banking at Oxbury Bank Plc.

Carolien Samson completed their M Phil in Development Practice from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 2019. Carolien also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika which they obtained in 2018. Prior to that, they obtained a B Comm (Hons) Economics from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 1999. Her educational journey began at Hoerskool Die Wilgers in 1986.
