Stefan Balint

Stefan Balint is a highly experienced scientist with a focus on biophysics and microscopy. Currently serving as Principal Scientist and Team Lead at PicturaBio since February 2025, Stefan previously worked as Senior Application Development Scientist at ONI from June 2022 to February 2025, where responsibilities included the development of high-end microscopy kits. Prior to this, Stefan held a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, leading an R&D project with Professor Michael L from January 2017 to May 2022. Earlier roles include PostDoctoral Researcher at the MCCIR and University of Manchester from September 2013 to December 2016, and at ICFO - Institute of Photonic Sciences from September 2010 to August 2013, where projects focused on advanced imaging techniques. Stefan earned a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Pavol Jozef Safarik in Kosice between 2005 and 2010.
