Simon Jones

Simon Jones has worked in the technology industry since 2008. Simon began their career at Barclays Investment Bank as a Graduate Analyst - IT, where they rotated between various teams and added new features to a mature electronic trading system in C++. Simon also fixed technical defects in a credit risk calculation engine. In 2014, they joined Hawk-Eye Innovations Ltd as an Algorithm Developer, where they were a key member of a small team developing automated camera systems for sports broadcasting. Simon built a vision-based tennis player tracker from the ground up, developed camera framing logic for horse racing, and researched an innovative method for robust, generic camera calibration. Simon was the winner of the company's quarterly Outstanding Contributor award in November. Since 2015, they have been at Oxehealth, where they have held the roles of Head Of Algorithms, Research Lead, and R&D Engineer.

Simon Jones obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from The University of Sheffield between 2010 and 2014. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering from The University of Edinburgh between 2004 and 2008.
