Santiago Zenil has a diverse work experience in engineering roles. In 2015, they worked as a Praktikant at ISG Industrielle Steuerungstechnik GmbH, where they focused on CNC automatic machine kinematics calibration. The following year, in 2016, they joined Sisa as a Programador de PLC, where they worked on various engineering projects such as software and hardware updates, installation of PLC equipment, software migration, and equipment design. From 2016 to 2018, Santiago worked as a Controls Engineer at SSI Schaefer, and their responsibilities included designing and implementing control systems. In 2018, they joined Schneider Electric as an Application Engineer and remained in that role until 2021. Currently, Santiago is a Product Engineer at Oxford Immune Algorithmics Ltd.
Santiago Zenil attended Tecnológico de Monterrey from 2011 to 2016 where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, and Automation Engineering. During their time at Tecnológico de Monterrey, they also completed an Engineer's degree in Ingeniería electrónica, robótica y mecatrónica at Hochschule Esslingen - University of Applied Sciences from 2014 to 2015. In addition to their formal education, Santiago obtained several certifications including Step7 Programming 1 from Siemens PLM Software in December 2017 and Duolingo Portuguese Fluency: Beginner (Estimated) from Duolingo in February 2016.
