Richard Friend

Richard Friend is currently an Independent Non-Executive Director at Oxford Instruments. Richard was previously the Sales Training Manager at BiOptix from June 2015 to January 2017, where they were responsible for developing and implementing a formal training program for all new account managers, field application scientists, and inside sales representatives. Friend also managed a team of four inside sales reps responsible for lead generation for regional account managers across the United States. Richard developed strategies to penetrate new accounts and implemented a custom SalesForce interface for the growing company.

Before their time at BiOptix, Friend was an Instructor of Natural Sciences at St. Thomas More Academy from August 2013 to May 2015. There, they developed a curriculum for and taught classes on biology, chemistry, bioethics, and biochemistry. Richard also developed a unique laboratory practicum class in conjunction with North Carolina State University that allowed students to perform research in a laboratory environment.

Friend began their teaching career as a Substitute Teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School from August 2012 to May 2013.

Richard Friend has a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Purdue University and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines. Richard also has a certification from LinkedIn in Creating Great First Impressions, Improving Your Listening Skills, and Tips for Working Remotely.
