Senior Production Scientist - Oligonucleotide Chemistry at Oxford Nanopore Technologies

James Laurenson's work experience begins with a role as a Summer Placement at GlaxoSmithKline in 2003, followed by an Industrial Placement at the same company in 2004-2005. In 2010, they worked as a Research Scientist at Summit plc, contributing to drug discovery projects and expanding their screening collection. From 2012 to 2023, Laurenson served as a Senior Synthetic Chemist at Biosynth, specializing in custom synthesis of molecules for various sectors. Currently, they are a Senior Production Scientist at Oxford Nanopore Technologies, focusing on oligonucleotide chemistry.

James Laurenson completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde, from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained an MSci (Hons) degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry from the same university, starting in 2001 and finishing in 2006.
