Michael Kaniou has worked in the space industry since 2018. Michael began their career as an FEA Modelling Intern at XCAM, where they designed and modeled the first iteration of a particle fallout sensor to be space qualified for use by ESA. Michael then joined the University of Warwick Satellite Engineering Team (WUSAT) as a Mechanical Engineer and Product Assurance Engineer, where they were part of a team designing and building a CubeSat intended to evaluate a novel technology for wildlife tag monitoring. In 2019, they joined STFC as a Graduate Product Assurance Specialist and then a Product Assurance Specialist, where they applied PA management to a variety of RAL Space projects and worked with governmental and private entities such as Airbus, ESA, Thales Alenia Space, and CNES. Michael then joined SpeQtral in 2022 as a Product Assurance Manager, where they began the process of implementing a product assurance management system and captured current working procedures in a PA Plan. Michael is currently a Product Assurance Manager at Oxford Space Systems.
Michael Kaniou completed their GCSEs at Highlands Secondary School from 2008 to 2013. Michael then went on to earn their A Levels from Highlands Secondary School from 2013 to 2015. In 2015, they began their Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Warwick, which they completed in 2019. In addition, they have obtained certifications from the University of Southampton, European Space Agency - ESA, and Royal Life Saving Society UK - RLSS UK, including a Space Systems Engineering Course, Product Assurance Awareness Training Course, RLSS IQL Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work, and RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ).
