Grey Frandsen has had a diverse and extensive work experience. In 1999, they co-founded PICnet and served as a Co-Founder. Subsequently, they served in various staff and leadership positions within the U.S. Government before and after 9/11, including Chief of Staff, Foreign Policy Advisor, and Political-Military Affairs Officer. Grey was also awarded the Presidential Management Fellowship for service at the U.S. government. In 2008, they left the U.S. government to co-found HG Ventures, Inc., where they served as Chief Executive Officer until 2012. From 2012 to 2016, they served as President of Olfactor Laboratories, Inc. Grey then took on roles as Policy Advisor at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Adjunct Assistant Professor & Senior Advisor at the University of California, San Francisco, and Executive Director at Intrexon Corporation. In 2016, they became Chairman of the Board of Directors at Pilgrim Africa and joined Oxitec Ltd as CEO in 2017. Grey has also been appointed as an Advisory Council Member to the United Kingdom's National Biosecurity Leadership Council, starting in 2023.
Grey Frandsen received a Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA with a minor in Public Policy. Grey'smajor areas of study were Political Science and Government, International Affairs, and African Studies. Grey attended UCLA from 1998 to 2000. Following this, Grey pursued a Masters of Arts degree in International Economics and International Relations at The Johns Hopkins University. Grey'sfield of study during this program was Conflict, Post-Conflict, and National Security in Austere, Non-permissive, and Remote Regions. Grey completed their Masters degree in 2003.
