Steve A. Vanderboom

Executive Chairman at Pace Analytical

Steve Vanderboom is the Executive Chairman of Pace®. Mr. Vanderboom founded Pace® in 1978 and has served as CEO and President of Pace® for 41 years before moving to the position of Executive Chairman in October 2019.

Mr. Vanderboom possesses over 44 years of experience in the analytical services industry, providing leadership in the areas of environmental testing, pharmaceutical, and medical device testing, product testing, field services, and environmental consulting.

Mr. Vanderboom is active in national as well as local communities, serving on the Board of the American Council of Independent Laboratories and as an advisor to Water Mission, a non-profit organization providing clean water to communities in need. He sponsors the work of Cristo Rey Twin Cities providing real-life work experience through unique work-study programs, and FIRST, a program for high school youth that focuses on Science Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics collaboration. Additionally, he is an active participant in the Gold Section of Young President’s Organization (YPO) as well as the Chief Executives Organization (CEO).

Mr. Vanderboom received a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. In 2019, Mr. Vanderboom became the seventh person to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award given by the Environmental Business Journal and the first to receive it from the laboratory community.
