Tomas Aftalion is the Founder and CTO of Pachama, a global startup that uses AI to restore forests. Tomas has over eight years of experience in the tech industry, with a focus on machine learning and data science.

Tomas's career began in 2010 as a co-founder of BigDeal, a social buying platform. Tomas then went on to work as an analyst at DineroMail, a Latin American payment processor, before becoming a data scientist at GranData, a big data startup. In 2015, Tomas transitioned into the role of machine learning engineer at MoneyLion, where they worked for a year before moving to Branch International, a mobile banking startup, in 2016. Tomas remained at Branch until 2018, when they left to start Pachama.

At Pachama, Tomas is using their machine learning expertise to develop innovative solutions that will help combat climate change. The company's technology can accurately map and measure the carbon sequestration of different types of forests, allowing businesses and organizations to offset their carbon emissions by investing in forest Conservation projects.

Tomas Aftalion has a Master of Science (MSc) in Information Systems Management from Carnegie Mellon University, a M.Sc. in Information Technology from Carnegie Mellon University, a M.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires, and a M.Sc. in Engineering from INSA Lyon - Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon. Tomas also has a degree from St. Andrew's Scots School.
