Austin McKenna

Austin McKenna, Ph.D., is a Senior Scientist specializing in Field Applications Bioinformatics Support at PacBio since June 2020, previously holding the role of Scientist II in Bioinformatics and Technical Support. Prior to joining PacBio, McKenna worked as a Molecular Lab Technician at Ace Analytical Laboratory and completed a PhD focused on population genomics at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where research centered on the genomic architecture of obesity. Additional experience includes serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at UNLV School of Life Sciences, teaching courses in Mammalogy, Evolution, Genetics, and Introductory Biology, as well as conducting undergraduate research on the Devils Hole Pupfish. McKenna holds a Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Integrative Physiology from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
