Jorge Mercado

Jorge Mercado is a seasoned journalist with a focus on technology, startups, and agriculture, currently serving as a Business Reporter for Pacific Coast Business Times since October 2020. Previously, Jorge worked as a Staff Writer at Santa Barbara News-Press, covering sports across various levels, and held the position of Editor In Chief at Daily Nexus, overseeing the editorial operations of the student newspaper. Jorge's experience also includes a role as a Sports Information Intern for UCSB Intercollegiate Athletics, where responsibilities involved managing player profiles and statistics, and work at MATRIX Document Imaging handling legal documents. Jorge holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from UC Santa Barbara, completed in 2019.
