Tamas Varga is a highly experienced Materials Scientist currently serving as Team Lead for Terrestrial-Atmospheric Processes at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since June 2009. In this role, Tamas provides user support for X-ray diffraction and X-ray Computed Tomography, and oversees facility operations while engaging in collaborative research involving the characterization of biological and geological samples, thin-film growth, and the development of x-ray capabilities. Prior experience includes a postdoctoral appointment at Argonne National Laboratory focused on high-pressure synthesis and characterization of advanced materials, and a postdoctoral scholar role at UC Davis studying thermal expansion materials and polymer-derived ceramics. Tamas holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Economics from the University of Miskolc, and an M.S. in Chemistry from the University of Debrecen.
