Chronic pain can be devastating, especially when it strips away the ability to compete or even do the activities you love. We understand this firsthand. Our co-founders, Alec Kassin and Miriam Gauci Bongiovanni, have lived it.

As a former semi-pro cyclist, Alec’s career was derailed by chronic back pain that persisted for two years despite countless treatments. Partially bedridden and struggling with depression, he found the answer not in more physical therapy but by addressing emotional stress and negative self-beliefs. After embracing this new approach, he became pain free and stronger than ever.

Miriam was an avid rock climber until shoulder pain, followed by Piriformis Syndrome, threatened her active lifestyle. Told surgery was her only option, she discovered the pain elimination approach she now teaches. By confronting deep-seated fears and shifting her mindset, she returned to climbing without limitations.

Our experiences inspired the Pain Free Comeback Method: a 3-pillar system that empowers athletes to recognize that their body isn’t broken, recalibrate the oversensitive danger signal in their brain, and reinforce lasting change by addressing mental and emotional stressors.
