Edward M. Tavel, Jr. MD has extensive experience in the medical field. Edward M. is the owner and physician at Pain Specialists of Charleston, P.A., where they serve as the medical director and provides interventional treatments for back pain and chronic pain. Edward M. also founded Clinical Trials of South Carolina and is the principal investigator. In the past, they served as the managing partner at Pain Care Physicians of Charleston and Palmetto Anesthesia of Charleston. Additionally, they were a member and later a partner at Trident Anesthesia Group. Throughout their career, they have been involved in the medical executive committee at Trident Regional Medical Center.

Edward M. Tavel, Jr. MD started their education at Davidson College from 1981 to 1985, where they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies. Following that, from 1985 to 1989, they attended the Medical University of South Carolina and earned their Medical School degree. Edward M. then completed a Medical Internship at Roanoke Memorial Hospital from 1989 to 1990. Finally, Edward M. Tavel, Jr. MD undertook their Anesthesiology - Residency and Fellowship at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they also served as the Chief Resident for Anesthesiology from 1992 to 1993.
