Jason Palmer is General Partner at [New Markets Venture Partners](/org/new-markets-venture-partners), one of the nation’s leading education-focused venture capital firms. As a double-bottom line investor, New Markets focuses on innovative, high impact, early and growth stage edtech companies that improve student outcomes while building profitable organizations.

Jason has been affiliated with New Markets since 2011 and became a General Partner in 2016 after three years at the Gates Foundation. Jason brings twenty years of experience as an education technology entrepreneur, executive and investor, and focuses on fund strategy, supporting portfolio companies and leveraging deep connections with industry leaders. Prior to his current role, Jason served as Deputy Director at the [Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation](/org/bill-melinda-gates-foundation), leading postsecondary innovation efforts. He also founded and grew three investor-backed technology and services companies before holding a series of executive positions at Microsoft, SchoolNet, Kaplan and [StraighterLine](/org/straighterline).

Jason holds a B.A. in interdisciplinary studies from the [University of Virginia](/org/university-of-virginia) and an M.B.A. from [Harvard Business School](/org/harvard-business-school). He is a proud resident of Baltimore, Maryland, and has a seven-year-old daughter, Amelia.

Jason Palmer

Originally from southern Illinois, Josh attended DePauw University for his undergraduate studies. He then went to Washington University In St. Louis for graduate school where he applied his skills to protein research and obtained his Master's degree in Computer Science. He then moved to Colorado where he focused his career and training on all things having to do with the Internet. He now lives in Maryland with his wife, dog and three cats.

Josh Coats

Brett began coding at age 17 for an aerospace company, started at his first hedge fund at age 19, then worked at the biggest fund in the world in NYC at age 21. He also worked in London, building an algorithmic trading fund from the ground up, and currently has his own consulting company, helping small to medium companies with big data needs architect cloud solutions for organizing, managing and analyzing their data.

Prior to joining [PAIRIN](/org/pairin), Allison founded a socially conscious business, EduKate, was a Product Innovation Director for the Foundation for Global Scholars, and consulted with several start-ups on strategic development.

Allison Grenney

Frank is an experienced financial leader in the social enterprise space. With more than twenty years in financial management, working in companies of all sizes, he has successfully built financial systems and structures that help organizational leaders strategically achieve their mission. Prior to joining [PAIRIN](/org/pairin), he worked on the executive leadership team for one of the top teacher preparation programs in the country and successfully leveraged a business model to scale teacher preparation.

Carli Franks

Alli is an experienced startup executive and business consultant with a passion for building exceptional teams and companies. She has built successful sales and operations teams at several startups, and led both fundraising and exit processes. Prior to her startup career, she specialized in organization/culture design, leadership development, change leadership, performance management, and technology and operations management at McKinsey.

Alli Phillips

Catapulting organizations to top-performance has been at the forefront of Carine’s executive career for over 20 years. As an architect of impactful change, and a strategic transformational leader, she develops and implements innovative global marketing strategies and operations that provide overarching change in business growth; overcome challenges and advance business goals in the global marketplace. She enjoys directing large global teams for billion-dollar revenue generating enterprises. Carine has led multiple software companies and was most recently President and CEO of [Banyan Software](/org/banyan-software).

Before joining Banyan, Clark was president and CEO at MaritzCX, a global customer experience (CX) software and services company where she was named the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 Award Winner in the Utah Region. Carine was also recognized as Women of the Year by [Utah Business](/org/utah-business) in 2019

Carine Strom Clark

Steve Fitzgerald is the Chief Executive Officer of the FireStorm Group Ltd, an eclectic collection of enterprises spanning human capital consulting, art, and real estate. He coaches C-Suite executives (with a special program for Chief HR Officers new to their role) and consults on the topic of talent management, specifically focused on the development of critical talent, executive succession, creativity, culture & change, M&A integration, and human capital strategy. He thrives when faced with hard-to-solve people's problems.

Steve’s executive career spanned 30+ years, where he held the top HR Officer/Talent position at firms including [Bridgewater Associates](/org/bridgewater-associates), [Visteon](/org/visteon), [Vail Resorts](/org/vail-resorts), and Fairlane Credit. He also held executive roles at Silicon Valley outfits such as Sun Microsystems and [Avaya](/org/avaya), spending over a dozen years of his career in that sector. Steve credits his early years at Ford Motor Company (after coming out of graduate school at Michigan State) as being foundational in building early mental maps for the systematic development of talent in a 100+-year-old enterprise. Mary began her career in management consulting, where she worked across the public and private sectors to help companies, governments and schools solve their most pressing problems. Mary is skilled in change management, organization design, and strategy development. She has partnered with a variety of industry experts, C-Suite executives, and frontline workers, and loves to put hearts and minds together toward a common goal.

Mary Heck

Beth is Product Manager at PAIRIN, specializing in the CommunityPro Suite product offering. She has extensive experience in K-12 and post-secondary education as a middle school teacher in St. Louis, Adjunct Professor at Fontbonne University and as the partner account lead at an EdTech company called KidzXplor. Beth currently serves on the Board of Directors for Camp Rainbow Foundation, an organization that provides camping experiences to children undergoing treatment for, and survivors of, cancer and blood-related diseases and disorders. Beth earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Michigan and her Master’s degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Loyola University Chicago.

Beth Lehrer

Susan Simpson spent the early part of her career as an industrial engineer, designing effective ways to integrate processes. After working in large corporate and start-up contexts, she refined her focus from processes to people. At the invitation of the Russian Ministry of Education and a global non-profit, she left to teach in the former Soviet Union. The initial one-year project extended for 13 years and into other fascinating roles. Susan apprenticed and collaborated with a professor of psychology from St. Petersburg State University. Together, they specialized in the interpersonal development of future psychologists, counselors and similar professionals. In 2009, she returned to the U.S. and began working as an executive coach for Trove, Inc.

Dan has a couple of “unofficial” job descriptions given by executives he's worked with that describe him: “Organizational Smokejumper” and “Gibberish Translator.” He's been involved in startup consultant agencies and Fortune 500 businesses creating success by being a flexible, creative, problem-solving leader and translating the mystical jargon of data science and research methodology. His consulting and collaboration philosophy is to become the trusted advisor of those around him so everyone can benefit from his diverse set of experiences.

Dan Hawthorne

Yesenia is a Principal at Occam Advisors where she works with clients to identify, build, and support relationships with early stage companies in strategic regions around the world. She leads diligence strategies on behalf of clients' including early-stage direct venture investments and fund investments in the US and LATAM. Yesenia’s expertise also includes cultivating relationships with partners and co-investors in key regions to build pipeline opportunities for clients. As a serial entrepreneur who has founded multiple companies in the food and beverage sector, she is passionate about supporting underserved and underrepresented entrepreneurs with environmental and social missions. Yesenia is a graduate of [Willamette University](/org/malone-brown-productions) and received her master's in environmental management from Yale University's School of the Environment.

Jennifer is an experienced product leader who has worked across a variety of industries and government agencies. She has built product teams and improved the process of building software for a variety of organizations. Prior to joining [PAIRIN](/org/pairin), she worked on teaching and learning structures and curriculum development while teaching math and science.

Scott Miraglia has an impressive history of developing and leading cutting-edge agencies throughout the United States. Before joining Elevation Marketing as President, Scott served as both COO and CFO for Terralever, one of the country’s premier digital marketing agencies, and prior as President of Liquid Productions, a live event and marketing company with offices across the United States.

Scott’s unique combination of experience, determination and executive leadership has landed organizations under his management on Inc. Magazine’s Top 5,000 list of America’s Fastest Growing Companies on five separate occasions, a list Elevation Marketing proudly joined in 2012.

Scott Miraglia

Cheryl completed her Ph.D. in Business Organization and Management with a focus on Emotional Intelligence in Executive Leaders and also earned her Masters in Counseling. She has extensive Executive Human Resource Leadership experience with more than 21 years of leading nationally and internationally in the nonprofit sector. Cheryl completed certifications as both a Global and Senior HR Professional. She has worked as a Senior Human Resources Executive, responsible for more than $80 million, overseeing 2700 employees in 56 countries, as well as legal and ethical compliance. She promoted a coach approach to leadership, team building, conflict resolution, superior job fit processes, major realignment and cultural change processes.

As a coaching professional for more than 25 years, Cheryl has worked to build the coaching skills in leaders for international assignments and trained coaches around the world. She is passionate about seeing people understand and optimize their abilities, talents and capacity to make the greatest contribution possible in their spheres of influence and be their very best.
