Tom Poorten

Tom Poorten is an experienced bioinformatics scientist currently serving as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Pairwise since June 2018, where responsibilities include establishing bioinformatics analysis tools for leafy green product development and leading gene discovery projects. Prior to this role, Tom was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Davis, focusing on genomic resources for cultivated octoploid strawberry, and a PhD Graduate Student at the University of California, Berkeley, where the thesis centered on genomic approaches to address disease-caused amphibian declines. Additional experience includes bioinformatics contracting at Invitae and previous graduate studies at the University of Idaho and Wake Forest University, culminating in a Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Policy, & Management from the University of California, Berkeley.
