Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is a public sector autonomous body working under the Ministry of Aviation, Federal Government of Pakistan. PAA was established on 9th August 2024 in accordance with section 3 of the Pakistan Airports Authority Act, 2023. The purpose of establishing PAA is to provide for the better administration, operation, and development of airports and air transport services in Pakistan. The core functions and powers of PAA are administer, operate, and develop airports and air navigation Services. The general direction and administration of PAA and its affairs vest in PAA Board which exercises all powers, performs all functions, and does all acts and things that need to be exercised, performed, or done by the Authority. The Chairperson PAA Board is the Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation to which the affairs of the Authority are allocated. PAA Executive Committee is also the highest decision-making body of the Organization. It exercises such functions and duties and exercise such powers in matters relating to the administration and affairs of the Authority as delegated to it by the Board. DGPAA is the head of the PAA Executive Committee. The Prime Minister appoints the Director General who is the Executive head of PAA and exercises such powers and performs such functions as may be specified in Pakistan Airports Authority Act ,2023 or delegated to him by the PAA Board from time to time.
