Cory Breternitz has extensive experience in archaeology, currently serving as Principal/Senior Archaeologist at PaleoWest Archaeology since January 2009, where responsibilities include directing excavations for the Navajo-Gallup Water Supply Project in Northwest New Mexico. Prior to this role, Cory was the Principal Investigator/President and Owner of Soil Systems, Inc. from November 1984 to January 2009, managing over 750 projects with a total of $25 million in contracts across several states. Cory's earlier positions include Project Director for the Navajo Nation Cultural Resource Management Program, Field Director for the Dolores Archaeological Program, and various roles with the National Park Service, Arizona State Museum, and Mesa Verde Research Center. Cory holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Washington State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Arizona.
