Tim Tully

Dr. Tully currently serves as the first ever Yushan Scholar at The National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Prior to his recent retirement, Dr. Tully’s career spanned 20 years in the drug development industry and 26 years in academia. He was Founding Scientist and Chief Science Officer of Helicon Therapeutics, Inc. up until its 2012 acquisition by Dart NeuroScience, LLC. Following Helicon’s acquisition, Dr. Tully served as Executive Vice President of Research and Development at Dart Neuroscience. During his tenures with Helicon and Dart, he is credited with building a structure-based drug discovery and design platform that created and advanced four small molecule compounds into clinical development in the area of neurology. Prior to joining industry, Dr. Tully spent nearly three decades in academia including Division Head of Neurogenetics at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Assistant Professor of Biology at Brandeis University.

Dr. Tully earned Bachelor degrees in Biology and Psychology and a Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Illinois and pursued postdoctoral work at Princeton University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Tully is highly regarded internationally for his key contributions to the field of neurology, highlighted by his receipt of a “Decade of The Brain” Award from the American Academy of Neurology for his seminal discovery that memory could be enhanced.
