Marcelo D. currently serves as the Unit Chief for Information Systems and Digital Health at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), a position held since August 2010, alongside serving as a Senior Advisor in the same field. Previously, Marcelo D. held various leadership roles at PAHO, including Director of Knowledge Management, Bioethics, and Research, where oversight included managing evidence-based information produced by PAHO Member States. Marcelo D. has extensive experience in communication and program management, having worked as a Regional Information Advisor at OPS/OMS and Manager of Communications at BIREME/PAHO/WHO. Marcelo D. began a career at the Pan American Institute for Food Safety and Zoonosis as the Head of Communications and Information Technology. Marcelo D. holds a Master’s degree in the Direction of Information and Knowledge Management and an Associate’s Degree in Diplomacy, along with a Bachelor’s degree in System Analysis focusing on Information and Communication Technologies.
