Vladimir I. Ivanov has a diverse work experience spanning over several years in various roles. As a Graduate Research Assistant from August 2006 to May 2012, Ivanov invented a groundbreaking technology for authentication of fingerprint scanners and researched image acquisition at the hardware level. Vladimir I. also served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow from January 2009 to May 2009.

Before joining the University of Maryland, Ivanov worked as a System Engineer in the DSL Modem Team at Alcatel (now Nokia) from May 2000 to January 2003, where they performed modeling, simulation, and analysis of ADSL wireline transceivers. Vladimir I. also worked as a Signal Processing Engineer and Hardware Engineer at Sparnex Instruments from 1999 to 2000 and 1998 respectively. Ivanov began their career as a Hardware Engineer at Smartcom Bulgaria AD from July 1996 to April 1997, where they optimized analog front ends and redesigned board systems.

Vladimir I. Ivanov's education history begins in 2005 at the University of Maryland, where they completed their Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with a major in Communications and Signal Processing and a minor in Computer Engineering in 2012. Prior to this, they had obtained a Master's Degree in Communication Technics and Technologies from the Technical University of Sofia, which they attended from 1992 to 1997. Before pursuing their Master's Degree, they completed their secondary education at Sofia High School of Mathematics (SMG) in Sofia, where they received a Secondary School Diploma with a professional qualification in Programming. After completing their Master's Degree, they pursued a Professional Qualification in Management at the Technical University of Sofia from 1994 to 1997. Ivanov also obtained an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, completing it in 2009.
