Thim Franken has worked in the aerospace industry since 2013. Thim began their career as an Air Traffic Control Trainee at LVNL in 2013. In 2018, they joined the European Space Agency - ESA as a Trainee for the Space Rider System. From 2019 to 2021, they worked at the European Space Agency - ESA as a Master Thesis - Chemical Propulsion, completing a literature review, requirements definition, modelling of hydrogen peroxide decomposition process, and design of thruster and components, feed system as well as a test setup and test plan. In 2021, they became a Lead In-Space Propulsion Engineer and an In-Space Propulsion Engineer at Pangea Aerospace.
Thim Franken attained a Master of Science (MSc) in Aerospace Engineering - Space Systems Engineering from Delft University of Technology in 2020, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aerospace Engineering Bridging Program from Delft University of Technology in 2017, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aviation Studies - Air Traffic Management from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in 2015. Additionally, Franken has obtained various certifications, including ECSS E-10: System engineering from the European Space Agency - ESA in 2021, ECSS M-Branch: Space Project Management from the European Space Agency - ESA in 2021, Introduction to the ECSS Standardisation System from the European Space Agency - ESA in 2021, a Certificate of Proficiency in English (C2) from Cambridge Assessment English, and Español nivel 3 (B1) from Technische Universiteit Delft.
