Daniel Place has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Daniel started their career as an Engineering Intern at Tampa Bay Shipbuilding, where they designed a tacking station and developed welding sequences for large ship blocks. Daniel then worked as an Engineering Intern at Trinity Yachts, LLC, where they performed structural analysis and redesign for a motor yacht and recommended structural reinforcement for a barge. Daniel also worked as a Laboratory Assistant at the University of Michigan Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory. Daniel gained further experience as a Salvage Engineering Intern at Resolve Marine Group, providing logistical support for oil spill decontamination efforts and participating in a successful salvage operation. Daniel then joined Boeing as a Naval Architect and Mechanical Engineer, where they provided engineering support for marine systems and led the design and testing of underwater unmanned vehicle subsystems. Daniel later worked at SpaceX as a Recovery Engineer, before joining Panthalassa as the Director of Engineering.

Daniel Place attended the University of Michigan from 2006 to 2010, where they received a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Daniel then continued their education at the University of Michigan from 2010 to 2011, earning a Master of Science in the same field.
