Machine Learning Engineer at Papercup

Tomás Gómez Ibarrondo has been working in the field of language engineering since 2021, when they began their role as a Machine Learning Language Engineer at Papercup. Prior to this, they worked as a Linguist (Phonetics) at Facebook via PRO Unlimited from 2019 to 2021. In 2018, they were selected by the Spanish Ministry of Education to participate in the program “Spanish Language and Culture Assistants in the USA”, where they worked as a Teaching Assistant at Windom Dual Immersion School in Minneapolis, MN. During their time there, they supported classroom instruction and activities in both Spanish and English, collaborated with other teachers and TAs to foster student learning, identified and adapted to students’ individual learning needs, offered individual support to students from different grades, provided students with exposure to Spanish and English, and assisted with schoolwide events.

Tomás Gómez Ibarrondo's education history includes a Bachelor of Arts - BA in English Studies from Universidad de Valladolid, which they completed between 2014 and 2018. Tomás then pursued a degree in Linguistics at The University of Edinburgh from 2016 to 2018. Tomás has also obtained several certifications, including an Introduction to Artificial Intelligence with Python (CS50 AI) from Harvard University in 2021, a Computing in Python IV: Objects & Algorithms from Georgia Institute of Technology in 2020, an Introduction to Computer Science (CS50) from Harvard University in 2020, an Introduction to Shell from DataCamp in 2019, a Regular Expressions in Python from DataCamp in 2019, and an Introductory course for SFL teachers from Cervantes International School (Cervantes Institute Accredited Center) in 2018.
