Dan Courson

Assistant Superintendent, Curriculum & Instruction at PVSchools

Dan Courson is the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction and is a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet.

He oversees curriculum development for the District, including the departments of assessment, fine arts, information technology, gifted, language acquisition, professional development, and special education.

Previous to his current role, Dan has served as Director of Leadership in the Deer Valley Unified School District, principal of Horizon High School in PVSchools, and a middle school principal in a neighboring district. He was also a high school English and math teacher.

Dan is also a current facilitator for the Center for the Future of Arizona’s Beat the Odds Executive Development Program and the National Institute for School Leadership (NISL), where he leads Arizona school and district leaders in professional development. He also teaches graduate-level courses for Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University for their administrative certification programs.

Dan also serves as an executive coach for leaders, focusing on systems design, facilitation development, and leading change.
