Karl Lakner has a diverse work experience in the art and gaming industry. Karl is currently working as a Studio Art Director and Art Manager at Paradox Interactive since September 2020. Prior to that, they served as an Art Director at Starbreeze Studios from January 2015 to September 2019.

Before that, Karl worked at OVERKILL Software as an Art Director and UX lead from January 2013 to January 2015. During their time there, they were involved in creating the game loop and UX framework for PAYDAY 2, as well as producing trailer material and marketing campaigns.

From January 2011 to August 2012, Karl worked as a 3D and 2D Artist at OVERKILL Software, where they contributed to the creation of the graphical profile and brand for the company. Karl also produced interface and marketing assets for Payday: The Heist.

Karl began their career as an intern at Supersledge/Overkill Software in 2010. Karl then worked as a Freelance Art Director from August 2008 to August 2009, allowing him to gain industry-related skills.

Prior to that, Karl served as an Art Director for digital campaigns at King from October 2006 to August 2008. Karl also had experience as an Art Director at Tonic from July 2005 to December 2006 and as a Web Designer at Lateral from January 2000 to July 2005.

Karl Lakner began their education in 1996 at Hyper Island, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in New Media. Karl successfully completed their studies in 1998. Later, from 2009 to 2011, Karl attended the Futuregames academy, focusing on 3D art for games. However, it is unknown if they obtained a degree during this time.
