Principal Game Programmer at Paradox Interactive

Maciej Czerwonka has a diverse work experience in the game development industry. Maciej currently holds the position of Principal Game Programmer at Paradox Interactive, starting in 2021.

Before joining Paradox Interactive, Maciej worked at 11 bit studios S.A. for five years. Maciej'sroles included Technical Director, Project Lead, Gameplay Programming Director, Senior Lead Game Programmer, and Expert Gameplay Programmer. During their time at 11 bit studios, Maciej was responsible for managing development teams, leading gameplay programmers, profiling and optimizing games, and introducing workflow improvements.

Prior to their work at 11 bit studios, Maciej was employed at GOG.com as a Lead Software Engineer and Lead Desktop Engineer. Maciej played a key role in the development of the Galaxy Pipeline architecture and the creation of the GOG desktop client. Maciej also contributed to the adaptation of existing GOG infrastructure and introduced various workflows in the company.

Before joining GOG.com, Maciej worked as a Programmer at one2tribe, where they worked on game projects such as Neuroshima Apocalypse and Solidarity: Conspiracy Manager. Maciej handled tasks related to gameplay programming, optimization, AI, networking, and analytics.

In addition, Maciej has experience as a Freelance Programmer, taking on assignments that involved technologies such as MFC, GDI+, WinINET, and OAuth. Maciej also worked on gameplay prototypes for Techland using the Chrome Engine as part of a larger team.

Maciej's early experience includes owning their own company, Sleepwalker Games, and working at CD PROJEKT RED as a Lead Programmer, Lead Tools Programmer, Senior Tools Programmer, and Programmer. Maciej was involved in the development of "The Witcher" project, managing teams, designing and implementing tools, and contributing to various aspects of gameplay development.

Overall, Maciej Czerwonka has gained extensive expertise in game programming, project management, optimization, and workflow improvement throughout their career in the game development industry.

Maciej Czerwonka holds an MSc degree in Industrial Automation and Robotics, which they obtained from Politechnika Krakowska im. Tadeusza Kościuszki, where they attended from 1999 to 2004. Prior to their enrollment in university, Maciej completed their secondary education at II LO w Chrzanowie from 1995 to 1999. Apart from their formal education, Maciej also earned a certification in Machine Learning from Coursera, which they obtained in February 2018.
