Ray Freeman

Vice President R&D IOT/ Retail at Paragon Id SA

Ray Freeman has extensive work experience in the field of technology and innovation, spanning over three decades. Ray is currently serving as the Vice President of R&D IOT/Retail at Paragon ID since September 2021.

Prior to this, Ray held various senior leadership roles at Smartrac Technology, including SVP Technology Commercialization and Chief Scientist (April 2019-September 2020), Senior Vice President of Technology, New Markets (April 2014-April 2019), and Senior Vice President, Group Head of R&D and Technology (June 2007-April 2014). In their role at Smartrac, Ray was responsible for worldwide R&D, new product and technology development operations.

Ray also served as a Member of the Board of Directors at RAIN RFID Alliance from April 2017 to September 2020. Prior to that, they gained experience at HID Global as the Senior Director of R&D (August 2004-May 2007) and Director of Card Technologies (November 2002-August 2004).

Furthermore, Ray worked as the Vice President of Technology and Business Development at Amatech from March 2000 to April 2002. Ray also held positions at Gemplus International SA as a Senior Technology Specialist in Advanced R&D (March 1999-April 2000) and Gemplus S.C.A. as an R&D Manager for Contactless Card and RFID Tag Development (October 1995-March 1999).

Ray began their career at Datacard Corporation as a Group Leader in Advanced Smartcard Development from February 1995 to October 1995. Prior to that, they served as a Principal Engineer at BI Technologies, where they worked on pioneer projects in the field of printed electronics (May 1986-February 1995).

Ray Freeman attended Ottawa University and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry.
