After achieving a First in Mechanical Engineering, Steve went on to study operations research and control theory at Churchill College, Cambridge. After leaving academia, he gained significant experience within global business. During his 35-year career with Rolls-Royce he has designed real-time, safety-critical control systems, led business units in Europe and the U.S., sat as group director of Corporate Planning, and led the Rolls-Royce Digital Business, which has 24/365 responsibility for mission-critical, real-time, digital engine monitoring services.
Steve currently holds a variety of global non-executive and advisory positions within the science community, including spin-outs from Cambridge University. He acts as a mentor to micro-business start-ups for The Prince’s Trust youth charity.
