Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark Bartman

Executive Director - DIU Onramp Hub Ohio at Parallax Advanced Research

Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark Bartman's work experience includes serving as the VP for Advanced Development at Parallax Advanced Research since 2023. Before that, they founded 9G Consulting LLC in 2019 and held the role of Program Executive (PE) for OFRN/APEX at The Ohio State University, where they supported applied research and systems engineering programs. Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark also worked as a consultant to the Office of Research at The Ohio State University, responsible for outreach and engagement with federal and state entities. Prior to their consulting roles, Maj Gen Bartman served in the Ohio National Guard, where they held the position of The Adjutant General, commanding the 4th largest State National Guard organization. Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark also served as the Assistant Adjutant General - Air and Commander at the 180th Fighter Wing, Air National Guard.

Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark Bartman earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University, graduating between 1977 and 1982. Later, in 1986 to 1992, they pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University. In 2012, they attended the National Security Studies Policy Course at Syracuse University and also completed the Air Force Smart Operations for the 21st Century (AFSO21) program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. In 2014, Maj Gen (Ret.) Mark Bartman attended the Capstone General and Flag Officer Course at the National Defense University. Lastly, in 2017 to 2018, they received an Executive Certificate with a Concentration in Public Leadership focusing on Leadership Decision Making and Strategies for Building and Leading Diverse Organizations from the Harvard Kennedy School.
