Senior Rendering Engineer

Engineering · Full-time · British Columbia, Canada

Job description

At Parallel Domain, we believe that autonomous systems – from self-driving cars to contactless delivery drones – have the opportunity to drastically improve the quality of life for billions of people. That is why we love what we do: enabling our customers to develop their technology safely using the Parallel Domain simulated testing platform. Our software changes the way our customers test their systems, accelerating their ability to deploy safe and reliable AI. We're looking for people like you to join us in pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence and simulation.

We’re looking for a Senior Rendering Engineer capable of thriving within a rapid development environment. We are a lean, focused team building a world-class platform for data generation for autonomy. In this role, you will design, implement, refine and optimize our rendering technology to reflect accurate representation of sensor data. The ideal candidate has at least 5-8 years experience and is willing to jump in and solve a variety of problems to move our technology forward.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For...

  • Lead the development and evolution of Parallel Domain’s real-time sensor simulation technology, a critical component of our data generation platform.
  • Act as a technical expert, collaborating closely with the content and pipeline teams to innovate and integrate cutting-edge solutions that enhance our simulation capabilities.
  • Define technical direction for sensor simulation, architecting systems that power the training and validation of real-world computer vision systems.
  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure seamless integration of sensor simulation technologies across the platform.
  • Continually evaluate and push the boundaries of computer graphics, bringing advancements into real-world applications.

Qualifications...

  • Extensive experience building and shipping complex, performant software systems in C++, with a proven track record of ownership and impact.
  • Expertise in real-time rendering technologies, including advanced lighting, shading, and optimization techniques.
  • Deep understanding of 3D math, linear algebra, and other mathematical foundations relevant to simulation and rendering.
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in related fields, showcasing progression in scope and influence.
  • Collaborative, self-driven, and motivated to lead initiatives that shape the future of simulation technologies.

Bonus Points...

  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects or initiatives in simulation, rendering, or related areas.
  • Advanced knowledge of linear blending techniques, animation systems, or physics-based rendering.
  • Proven experience working with and extending commercial game engines (e.g., Unreal, Unity) in large, complex projects.
  • Background in parallel programming, multi-threaded renderers, and performance optimization for large-scale systems.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to advocate for technical solutions effectively.
