Sharon Thurlby, RD, LDN, has extensive experience in nutrition and dietetics, currently serving as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at Pardee Hospital since August 2012, where responsibilities include managing medical/surgical, oncology, and psychiatric units while providing both inpatient and outpatient medical nutrition therapy. Prior to this role, Sharon worked as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at St. Luke's Hospital, simultaneously providing prn services at three hospitals from August 2010 to August 2012. Before that, Sharon dedicated 14 years as a stay-at-home mom and gained valuable experience as a Dietitian in Student Health/Food Service at the University of South Florida from February 1990 to February 1996, where educational materials and nutrition education were developed for a large student population. Additionally, Sharon served as a Clinical Dietitian at Tampa General Hospital from February 1984 to February 1990, building foundational skills in the field. Sharon holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Foods, Nutrition, and Wellness Studies from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

UNC Health Pardee is a not-for-profit healthcare system that is managed by UNC Health. Founded first as Henderson County Hospital Corporation with the creation of Patton Memorial Hospital in 1913, it was later expanded as Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital in 1953 to accommodate additional patients and medical staff. Pardee is the first hospital in the Carolinas to be accredited by the International Organization for Standardization for quality healthcare standards. Today, Pardee has grown to meet the needs of the community, including a comprehensive primary care and specialist physician network, cancer center, four urgent care locations, and six orthopedic clinics. With over 1400 employees, Pardee is the second largest employer in Henderson County, NC.
