Susana I. Santana

Susan I. Santana was appointed Vice President, Legislative Strategy for AT&T California in January 2020. Ms. Santana is responsible for leading AT&T’s legislative initiatives across California with a focus on advocating for policies that support innovation and industry growth. Her responsibilities are focused on legislative and political strategies in telecommunications, media and technology areas impacting AT&T. She represents AT&T before the California state legislature, the Governor’s office and California state agencies, and leads a team of state legislative affairs professionals in Sacramento, California.

Ms. Santana previously served on the AT&T Federal Relations team where she represented AT&T’s legislative interests before the U.S. Congress. She began her tenure as part of the AT&T External Affairs team, developing and managing long-term strategic relationships with key constituency groups, including the Hispanic segment.

Prior to AT&T, Ms. Santana also served as Government Affairs Counsel for Dell Inc., and practiced law at Holland & Knight in Washington DC, as well as Baker & McKenzie in San Diego, California. As a Law Fellow for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, she had the opportunity to clerk for the Honorable Ricardo M. Urbina, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia (Ret.).

Ms. Santana’s involvement in the community has been extensive including board service and leadership positions on the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute, and the National Association of Latino Appointed & Elected Officials. She also served as past president of the Hispanic Bar Association of D.C., the Hispanic Lobbyists Association in Washington D.C., and AT&T’s DC HACEMOS (Hispanic/Latino Employee Group). She currently serves on the boards of the American Red Cross, National Capital Region, and the Congressional Management Foundation in Washington DC. She is the recipient of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 2017 Medallion of Excellence for a Distinguished Alumnus.

Ms. Santana received a double bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and earned her law degree from UCLA School of Law. She resides in Sacramento, CA with her husband, Bert Gomez, and her baseball-playing son, Eric Alejandro.
