Bob Hayward has extensive experience in the fields of astronomy and education, currently serving as an Astronomer and Educator at Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute since March 2001. Prior to this role, Bob Hayward worked at Fernbank Science Center for over three decades, holding the position of Astronomer and Administrative Coordinator for Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to their scientific career, Bob Hayward served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Reserve from April 1964 to May 1991, with active duty in the 6th Special Forces Group (Airborne). Academically, Bob Hayward earned a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction/Science Education/Educational Leadership from Georgia State University, supplemented by two master's degrees in Astronomy/Astrophysics and a master's degree in Physics/Astrophysics from the University of Arizona and the University of Florida respectively, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics/Math from the University of Florida.
