Desmond Blocker has a diverse background in education and athletics, currently serving as the Boys Basketball Coach at Michelle Obama School of Technology & Arts since 2019 and as the Assistant Dean of Students at Park Forest - Chicago Heights District 163 since November 2018. As the Business Owner of Faith Walk Athletics since December 2017, Desmond oversees the travel basketball program and the overall basketball program. Previous experience includes roles as a Special Education Paraprofessional at Cook County School District 130, Trainer/Camp Director at Next Level 24, and various coaching positions at St. Benedict High School, Chicago Hawthorne Scholastic Academy, and Southtown All Stars. Desmond's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching from Northeastern Illinois University and an Associate of Arts degree from Wilbur Wright College.

Park Forest-Chicago Heights School District 163 is seeking qualified, creative and determined applicants. District 163 is located approximately 35 minutes south of downtown Chicago. We have 6 schools with over 2,000 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten - 8th grade. Our District, within the Park Forest Community, embraces diversity with attention to ARTS, ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AND SCIENCES. We have recently reconfigured grades 4-8 to provide students the opportunity to choose between two schools, STEM and Leadership, and ARTS and Technology.
