Lisa Wood has a diverse work experience, starting as a Teacher in Buffalo Public Schools from 1987 to 2002. Lisa then worked as a Wildlife Rehabilitator at SPCA Erie County in 2002 before moving on to The Park School of Buffalo in the same year, where they held multiple roles including Teacher, Director of Lower School Intervention Services, and Director of Environmental Education. Since 2007, they have been self-employed as a Tutor.

Lisa Wood earned their Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from Buffalo State University in 1989. Lisa then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Education with a focus on Reading/Writing Specialist from the same university in 1989.
