Meet Vincent Lopez: Founder and CEO of Parker Health

Meet Vincent Lopez: Founder and CEO of Parker Health

Written By Chinue Ellis The Org Vincent Lopez founded Parker Health in 2020 with the mission of leveraging technology to simplify the complexities of healthcare and make it more affordable for everyone. “Healthcare is probably the most technologically advanced that it has ever been in terms of prescriptions and surgery. But when it comes to the actual patient management side of things, we are so far behind,” Vincent said. “So that's really where we are coming in and revising how that is governed, all while increasing accessibility and lowering costs for everyone involved.” Prior to founding Parker Health and its parent company, LCA Vantage Healthcare, Vincent worked for the federal government. There he gained much of the experience and know-how to operate a business that works closely with the federal law to change how healthcare is governed in America. But it was his experience as an individual going through the trials and tribulations of getting access to care that inspired him to revolutionize the healthcare industry. “Everything in the healthcare industry is about making money and less about trying to provide solutions and actually healing people. We are changing that entire model of the service aspect [of healthcare] and we're putting people in charge of their health instead,” Vincent said. With Parker Health, patients have access to their data and health records in real-time on the company’s website or mobile app, and the information that's being transcribed is accessible to both patients and their physicians 24/7. “You shouldn’t be charged a service fee to have access to your medical data and that is part of the law. This is supposed to be happening now, and it's not happening the way that it should be,” he continued. According to Vincent, another lesson that his background in government prepared him well for has been facing rejection. Which, as a minority-owned, founded and run company that aims to turn a multi-trillion dollar business on its head, Parker Health has experienced a good deal of. “You have an older Caucasian generation that's governing much of health care for probably some of the most vulnerable communities in America, [so] we've gotten our fair share of pushback and people looking at us like what we're doing is impossible. But we've delivered the impossible already,” Vincent explained. “It's hard for them to conceptualize the fact that an African American guy [the chief technology officer of Parker Health, Chris Parker] and a Mexican-American guy [Vincent Lopez] came together and built this, because it didn't come from who they traditionally see in the tech industry.” As people of color building out Parker Health’s system on the backend, Vincent and Chris are reminded daily of the disparities in healthcare that are not being addressed. “We see the data that comes in. We know what's happening. And we recognize that, again, the communities that are being targeted are Black and Brown communities. They're not getting access to care or if they have access to care, it's not the top quality of care that they're getting.” For this reason, Parker Health operates its fundamentals culturally and business-wise with the at-risk population that they seek to support in mind. One example of this is how the company aims to build a team that properly reflects the average citizen in America, who is affected by the way healthcare is governed today. “The team that we're developing is representative of the communities that we come from, but also of the nation that’s really here. And so we value [diversity] deeply in our hiring process, but also in our management of those employees into our ecosystem.” In addition to racial and economic diversity, Vincent also explains that diversity of thought is something the organization holds in high regard. “We enjoy bringing dialogue into our development process. Whether you're the CEO and founder like myself, or somebody who we hired to do administrative work, we value everyone’s opinions and input,” he said. “Value is about engaging somebody's concepts, their thoughts and their whole persona into what our system recognizes. And it comes back to what our fundamentals as a company are.” Looking ahead, Vincent is eager for all of the opportunities for growth and change that are happening for Parker Health in the coming year. “There are a lot of exciting things in the pipeline right now for us as an organization, but there's also a lot happening where we're revolutionizing the entire healthcare industry, actually overnight,” he said. Just in the past year, the organization has worked more closely with the federal government to help change certain programming, move healthcare data to higher credibility and hold the government more accountable for its oversight. Team-wise, Vincent is looking forward to growing and strengthening Parker Health’s community. “I'm really excited for us to be able to be back in the office at some point this year and to develop that kind of bond that an in-person culture fosters.” Another part of the reason Vincent is looking forward to having an office is due to the fact that he struggles with finding a work-life balance while working from home. As a self-identifying workaholic, he admits that it's hard for him to shut down, clock out and take time for himself. When he isn't busy leading a company, Vincent enjoys playing golf, watching Formula One racing and traveling. Most recently, he and the Parker Health team have traveled to San Francisco, New Orleans, and Austin.

Bioparker Corporation submits white paper to revolutionize The US Department of Veterans Affairs' Electronic Health Record system

Bioparker Corporation submits white paper to revolutionize The US Department of Veterans Affairs' Electronic Health Record system

WASHINGTON, Dec. 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ -- Bioparker Corporation (Bioparker) submits white paper to revolutionize The US Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Electronic Health Record system. Bioparker provides the only Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system on the market that exceeds FHIR compliance regulations to offer instantaneous access to health data across the entire continuum of care. Bioparker's white paper submission comes at a time when Cerner Corporations (Cerner), a widely adopted EHR system with approximately 25 percent market share, failed to meet its 2018 contract requirements to provide services to the VA with the goal to modernize and streamline a long-maligned section of the government. The 10-year project, aiming at rolling out the EHR system at 150 locations nationwide, was evaluated at $16 billion, but according to the VA Office of Inspector General, it has been underestimated by as much as $5.1 billion, raising the likely total cost to at least $21 billion. Just two years after rolling out the Cerner system at Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, a review found several deficiencies and patient safety issues including lack of adequate training, putting veterans' safety and health at risk, and further facilitating provider burn-out due to struggles with navigating the system. Despite efforts of Cerner and other market leaders, no EHR system has successfully met FHIR compliance regulations, implemented continuous biometric data or provided an end-to-end solution that satisfies the needs of health care facilities, professionals, or their patients. Addressing the goal of improving health care delivery and outcomes for veterans requires an inter-connected system that's reliable, secure and addresses the interoperability issue most EHR systems have failed to deliver on. Achieving interoperability, that is finding, sending, receiving, and integrating electronic patient information from outside providers, has been a challenge for most hospitals in sharing patient data. According to a recent Health Affairs study, only 29.7 percent of hospitals engaged in all four domains of interoperability in 2015. By combining artificial intelligence with the Bioparker Smart Tract Ecosystem®, a holistic facility management service and EMR/EHR system, Bioparker provides a full-service solution to manage business operations, facility security, maintenance, emergency services integration, human resources, professional development training, payroll, scheduling, billing, supply chain and other customizable solutions as add-on modules. Furthermore, by collecting and leveraging continuous biometric data from FDA-cleared medical wearable devices across the continuum of care, Bioparker is advancing real-world clinical research, reducing professional burden through automation and actionable insights, and facilitating custom inpatient and outpatient clinical workflows to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction. Referring to the recent pause on the EHR modernization efforts, on a Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs hearing in July, Senator Jon Tester (D-MT) stated that "transparency and truthfulness, quite frankly, have been absent." Americans, particularly American Veterans, deserve access to a secure, reliable, and trusted health care system. Bioparker's mission is to deliver on the unfulfilled promises of digital healthcare technology by revolutionizing interoperability, efficiency, accessibility, and preventive health initiatives for all. About Bioparker Corporation Bioparker Corporation is a Joint Venture between Biostrap Corporation (Biostrap) and LCA Vantage Healthcare (LCAV) to deliver the world's first and only Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR) compliant electronic health records system and SMART Tract® Ecosystem with integrated & continuous biometrics in accordance with new CMS, FHIR, and FDA regulations and policies. By combining continuous biometric with traditional data streams and facility management services, Bioparker leverages an unprecedented amount of health data to develop and validate novel biometrics, algorithms, and actionable insights to refine clinical workflows, remote physiologic monitoring initiatives, prompt proactive intervention, reduce staff and facilities inefficiencies through automation, and standardize healthcare decision making. Bioparker's medical products and services aim to improve patient outcomes while delivering significant cost savings to its partners and the US healthcare system at large- all while maintaining a reduced carbon footprint.
