Our Mission The Parkinson’s Specialty Care mission is to enhance the quality of life for people living with Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders in a comfortable environment that promotes respect, dignity and the highest quality of care. We truly believe that every individual has a voice, and that all clients, regardless of functioning level or cognitive ability, deserve compassionate, quality care that exceeds expectations. Parkinson’s Specialty Care was founded by Marcia Hamilton Cotter in 2000 as a home health care agency called Warm Hands Kind Hearts. Marcia quickly saw the need for specialized services for those dealing with Parkinson’s Disease—including her father-in-law who had the disease. Under Marcia’s guidance, the agency shifted focus to providing specialized assisted living care to clients with Parkinson’s and movement disorders and operates as Parkinson’s Specialty Care Residential Living. Her growing vision and expertise in Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders resulted in a decision to open her first residential assisted living home. In 2004, she opened the first Parkinson’s Specialty Care Residential Living location in Edina and now operates five other Twin Cities residences.
