Christy Peterson has extensive experience in the healthcare industry, specializing in revenue cycle management, health information management, compliance, and privacy. Christine (Christy) currently serves as the Revenue Cycle Director and Privacy Officer at Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic. Prior to this, they worked as a Visiting Professor at DeVry University and as the Director of Revenue Cycle and HIM/Privacy Officer at Morton Comprehensive Health Services, Inc. Christine (Christy) also served as a Compliance Officer at Conifer Health Solutions. Christy has previous experience at Parkside Psychiatric Hospital & Clinic as the HIM Director, HIPAA Privacy Officer, and Corporate Compliance Auditor, as well as an Interim Business Office Director. Christine (Christy) has also worked at Hillcrest Medical Center as a Release of Information Coordinator and HIM Specialist. Before transitioning to the healthcare field, Christy worked as the QC Lead in the Mountain Region at MD-IT. Christine (Christy) began their career as a Medical Transcriptionist and owned their own business, Peterson Transcription. Christy also worked as a Medical Transcriptionist at MedQuist. Christine (Christy) started their professional journey as a Spanish Teacher, Yearbook Teacher, and Head Cheerleading Coach at Ottumwa High School.

Christine (Christy) Peterson, RHIA, CCS, CHC, CHDS has an extensive educational background in the field of healthcare information management. Christine (Christy) began their education at Concordia College, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish/Secondary Education in 1996. Following this, in 2001, they completed a certificate program in Medical Transcription at Andrews School.

In 2012, Christy furthered their education by earning an Associate of Applied Science degree in Health Information Technology from Indian Hills Community College. With a growing interest in health informatics, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Health Informatics and Information Management from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, which they completed in 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Christine has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. In 2009, they became a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT), which later transitioned to a Certified Healthcare Documentation Specialist (CHDS) through the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI). In 2012, they achieved the prestigious designation of Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI-F).

Furthermore, Christine became a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA®) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in 2016. Christine (Christy) also holds the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS®) credential and is a Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) professional, both obtained in 2015.

Continuing their commitment to professional development, Christine obtained additional certifications, including the AHIMA-Approved Revenue Cycle Trainer certification in 2019. Christine (Christy) obtained an Oklahoma Teaching Certification from the Oklahoma State Department of Education in 2018.
