Nicole joined Parlee McLaws as an associate in 2021 following the completion of her articles with the firm. Nicole’s practice focuses on civil litigation and her primary interest lies in labour and employment, insurance litigation, and general civil litigation. Nicole’s interest in labour and employment began when she was a summer student in the Labour and Employment group at Alberta Justice and Solicitor General.
While attending law school, Nicole completed The Law Centre clinical program, a semester long clinic designed to provide legal services to low-income clients. During this time, she gained experience in criminal law, civil litigation, human rights, labour and employment, and various access to justice issues. She also acted as the primary liaison for the William Head Penitentiary prisoner legal services clinic. In addition, Nicole worked as a research assistant during law school for various professors on issues of contracts and criminal law.
Prior to attending law school, Nicole completed a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction in Psychology and Philosophy. During her undergraduate career, she regularly volunteered with the University of Calgary Women’s Resource Centre and Sagesse, a non-profit organization assisting survivors of domestic violence. Nicole developed a passion for helping others and developing strong communities.
