Francis Watlington is a dedicated academic and educator with extensive experience in Spanish language education and cultural studies. Currently serving as a Lecturer at the University of Oklahoma since August 2016, Francis specializes in diverse subject areas including Spanish language education across all SLA levels, Latin American and Iberian literatures, and critical media literacy. Additional roles include Spanish Language Exhibition and Programming Coordinator and Foreign Language Requirement Assessment Evaluator. Francis has also contributed as a Lead Foreign Language Tutor for a program supporting veterans and previously held positions such as Research Affiliate at The University of Texas School of Law and Assistant Instructor at The University of Texas at Austin. Educational qualifications include a PhD and MA in Spanish from The University of Texas at Austin, alongside a BA in English (Literature) from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras.
