James J. Kleckner

James J. Kleckner is the former CEO and President of Jagged Peak Energy Company before the company was acquired by Parsley Energy in January 2020. Mr. Kleckner has been in the Oil and Gas industry since 1981. He was Executive Vice President for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation providing executive leadership and strategic oversight for International and Deepwater Americas Operations in 10 countries. As Vice President, he directed and led the Northern Region resulting in a dominant land position in key US onshore basins. Prior to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, Mr. Kleckner served in various leadership capacities with Kerr-McGee, Oryx Energy Company and Sun Oil Company. He holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Mr. Kleckner is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He has served on the Petroleum Engineering Advisory Board at Colorado School of Mines, the Executive Board for the Colorado Oil and Gas Association and the Executive Board for the Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain States.
