J Morgan has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Currently, J Morgan is working as the Associate Vice President of Strategic Communications at Partners for Rural Impact, where they support the educational aspirations of rural students across America by building partnerships and enhancing support from governmental and philanthropic sources. Prior to that, J Morgan served as the Director of Communications at Partners for Education, focusing on raising awareness of the organization and ensuring all communication aligned with the mission and commitments of Berea College. Before that, J Morgan was the Director of Publications and Media Relations at Berea College, managing the development and production of various college publications. They also have experience as an Associate Professor at Glenville State College, where they taught courses in composition, journalism, literature, film, and literary theory. Additionally, J Morgan worked as a Visiting Instructor at Eastern Kentucky University.

J Morgan earned a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from Berea College in 1991. They went on to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English Language and Literature from the University of Kentucky in 2004.
